At Relish we never assume you were born rolling pastry dough or with the innate knowledge on how to chiffonade spinach. Luckily Holly Clegg doesn’t either.

holly cleggA well-seasoned cook, author and TV personality, Holly’s newest cookbook, Kitchen 101: Secrets to Cooking Confidence, tackles arguably the most difficult stage of a cook’s kitchen career—the beginning. In Kitchen 101 she offers up her simplest recipes that use the least amount of ingredients while still producing big flavor.

Each recipe in the book has nutritional information included and clearly denotes which of the recipes are vegetarian, freezer-friendly, or crock pot compatible. It also highlights which are diabetic friendly according to ADA guidelines. Rarely over three steps and never requiring a laundry list of ingredients, here are five of our favorites from Holly’s bright, playful and most importantly, focused-on-the-delicious cookbook (Note: Click images for recipes):

If you find yourself with an insatiable chili craving but are short on time and don’t have a day to let your chili simmer, this version is a Godsend. Taking under 30 minutes, Holly utilizes affordable pantry staples in this hearty one-pot meal.

Spicy Glazed Chicken

Boasting a spicy rub with a honey glaze, this flavorful chicken is perfect for busy weeknights. If it’s warm outside, take this chicken to the grill, otherwise the year-round dish is just as good when served from the oven.

Lemon Herb Shrimp
